CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is planning a major project: $100 million is being raised to construct a complex consisting of three buildings.
When finished, pavilion, exhibit space and chapel would be the crown jewel next to the U.S.S. Yorktown and Patriots Point, already one of the most popular tourist attractions in Charleston.
But there has been a bump in the road. The recent resignation of the foundation's CEO and subsequent hiring of a new CEO has caused confusion. That confusion has led to the resignation of seven board members. That's about a third of the foundation.
From all indications, this is a simple misunderstanding that can be worked out. Let's hope so. This project is too important to get delayed, or even worse, canceled.
Charleston is proud of the Medal of Honor Museum. Let's put aside differences, honor the bravery and sacrifice these medal recipients made and move forward with the project.
