Ravenel Bridge reopens after 40th Annual Cooper River Bridge Run

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The 40th Annual Cooper River Bridge Run race route is reopening to traffic.

Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant and the Ravenel Bridge reopened to traffic shortly before 11 a.m.

The race route for the Cooper River Bridge Run shut down well ahead of the event. Some roads are expected to remain closed until approximately 2 p.m.

The first road closures in downtown Charleston, including Calhoun Street from Meeting to Anson Streets, began at midnight Saturday.

The Ravenel Bridge's pedestrian walkway closed at 6:30 a.m. and the entire bridge closed to traffic beginning at 7 a.m., an hour ahead of the race's 8 a.m. start time.
