Investigators make arrest in Charleston Co. gas station shooting

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have arrested a Lowcountry man in connection to a gas station shooting in Charleston County.

Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office say 23-year-old Kendell Lamont Jenkins of Hollywood was arrested on Thursday.

He is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Jenkins' arrest stems from an incident on Feb. 9 when deputies responded to someone being shot at the gas pumps at Bluewater Exxon on Highway 162 in Hollywood.

When deputies arrived they found the victim, who had a gunshot wound to his lower back, leaning against a car.

The victim said a man named "Juicy" had shot him.

According to the victim, he had been involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect on Feb. 4 while at the Shady Rest Club on Storage Road.

In that incident, the victim said the suspect left without incident.

Then on Feb. 9, the victim said he was pumping gas when a car pulled up to him and the suspect got out and took out a gun.

An affidavit states the suspect said,"How 'bout now?" and fired several rounds at the victim.

The victim said he turned and fled when he saw the gun and was struck once in the back.
