BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Berkeley County Water and Sanitation lifted a Boil Water Advisory Monday morning that had been in effect since Friday night.

The advisory was expected to remain active through noon Monday because of a water line break under Santee Canal.

The water main break was repaired on Saturday.

The following areas were still under a boil water advisory: Bonneau, Bonneau Beach, St. Stephen, Shulerville, Honey Hill, Cainhoy and Huger.

Residents were advised to boil water for at least one full minute before cooking and drinking.

Berkeley County Water and Sanitation said the advisory was a precautionary advisory and did not mean the water is contaminated.

Approximately 3,500 people were affected by the issue, according to BCWS.
