NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - School officials say a student threatened to "shoot up" a middle school in North Charleston.

Parents at River Oaks Middle School said they received a notice that administration learned of a rumor regarding an 8th grade student who planned to "shoot up the school."

According to officials, the school and police have been in contact with the student.

A report states the parents will be bringing the student in to meet with police and school administration, and will face "very serious consequences."
