GREELEYVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Williamsburg County deputies say a pair of burglars robbed a couple while pretending to assess damage caused from Hurricane Matthew.

Deputies responded to a home on Burgess Road in Greeleyville Thursday at approximately 3 p.m. where an elderly couple reported two men had come to their door, Williamsburg County Investigator Alex Edwards said.

The victims told deputies the men said they were county employees and were assessing damages from the October storm.

Investigators say one of the men gained entry into the home while the other distracted the husband.

The female victim told deputies her pocketbook had been stolen.

Deputies say the burglars were driving a pickup truck with green letters on the side.

Investigators released sketches of the two men Monday evening.

Anyone with information on the burglars' identities is asked to call the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office at 843-35-6381, ext. 4534.
