Deputies: Man facing attempted murder charge after dispute led to gunfire

ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Orangeburg County deputies say a man who fired shots into the home was arrested moments after the incident.

Demarious Wilson, 32, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and traffic violations including driving under suspension, according to Orangeburg County Sheriff's spokesman Richard Walker.

During a hearing Tuesday morning, Orangeburg County Magistrate Maree Williamson set bond on those charges at $155,000.

Deputies responded to the Drexel Street area around 3:30 a.m. Monday after residents there began reporting a vehicle traveling through several times, Walker said.

On some of those trips around the neighborhood, the driver fired shots at the victim's home, deputies say.

As deputies patrolled the area, they heard shots being fired as well, and after witnesses provided a description of the vehicle, it was spotted leaving the area. However, deputies stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, Walker said.

"This individual was seen driving past this victim's residence several times and several times firing shots into the home," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. "It was a miracle this victim wasn't hit by the gunfire since one round struck near where the victim was sleeping."

The victim told deputies he and the subject had a run in a nightclub where he worked. He said the subject was standing on a pool table and had to tell him to step down.
