CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A "doughnut dash" will honor the legacy of one of the Emanuel AME victims this weekend.
The Charleston Jewish Community Center Without Walls and Race 4 Achievement Scholarship Fund will host a 5K in West Ashley on Sunday. Participants will consume a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts halfway through the run/walk.
The annual event commemorates the life of Tywanza Sanders, who was shot and killed inside Emanuel AME in 2015. Money raised will go towards both hosting organizations to further their missions of strengthening the community and supporting diversity.
The "doughnut dash" will start at the South Windermere Shopping Center on Sunday, April 9, at 7am.
