CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The murders of four South Carolina prison inmates is troubling.
State officials say two inmates at Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia lured four other inmates into a prison cell, then strangled them. One of the inmates was also stabbed with a broomstick that had been sharpened into a weapon.
If the state knows why this happened, they're not saying.
The bigger question may be how?
We're told the Friday morning attack lasted 30 minutes and there is surveillance video of at least part of the attack, but the bodies weren't discovered until later in the morning.
Was anyone watching?
We all know bad things happen in prison, but could this have been prevented?
Hopefully, an investigation will help prevent something like this from every happening again.
