CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Congressman Mark Sanford met with different groups in Charleston County and heard their concerns on a number of issues.
Sanford also visited Forth Dorchester High School where he entertained a range of questions from students.
His day started with a Coffee with your Congressman event at a Hardees in Mount Pleasant.
Sanford also visited with healthcare startups, spoke with an AP Government class at Fort Dorchester High School and toured the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter James.
"It's nice to see a politician in kind of a frank, candid form," said Jordan Howell, a 12 grader from Fort Dorchester High School.
Howell has lived in the Charleston-area her entire life.
She says she appreciates that Sanford took the time to talk with her class in a more relaxed environment.
"It shows that they are people and not just someone in Washington who doesn't know what we're talking about down here," Howell said."So he's still able to relate to us which is what I value."
Sanford only spoke for about 10 minutes at the beginning, and then came the questions which ranged rom his decision-making to how he feels about imposing term limits.
"I would argue that term-limits change the beta of a given political decision," Sanford told students.
Sanford also took on the role as teacher, showing them how finance is a big part of the future.
And whether they agreed with his views or not, the students were glad to have the insight
"I think I valued him as a politician," Howell said."I personally don't agree with a lot of what he said, but I respect his views and how he comes to them."
Earlier this week, Sanford attended events in Hilton Head Island, Bluffton and Beaufort.
