CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A subtropical depression that formed in the Atlantic on Wednesday morning is continuing to move north east late Wednesday night and shows no sign of strengthening.
At 11 p.m., the center of Subtropical Depression One was located near latitude 33.2 North, longitude 39.3 West, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The depression is moving toward the north east at 12 mph.
Maximum sustained winds remained at 35 mph, the same as in the 5 p.m. report.
If the maximum sustained winds had reached 39 mph by the 11 p.m. update, the system would have become a named storm: Subtropical Storm Arlene.
Hurricane Season does not officially begin until June 1.
