A 58-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison in connection with a Johns Island burglary.
Mack Seal Washington was charged with first-degree burglary, malicious injury to personal property and obtaining goods by false pretenses, according to Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office spokesperson Naomi Nation.
Investigators say Washington pried open a locked garage door at a home on River Road on Johns Island in August 2015, then forced his way into the home and stole numerous items, including lawn equipment and firearms.
The victims were at work at the time of the burglary, Nation said.
Washington was identified by a fingerprint left at the home as well as by a pawn ticket for one of the stolen firearms, she said.
Nation said Washington's criminal record spans 40 years and includes five burglary convictions.
