Clemson head basketball coach Brad Brownell had a 1-year extension approved by the school's Board of Trustees on Thursday that also allowed the school to change his early termination clause buyout.
The extra year keeps Brownell signed with the school through the 2020-21 season. He'll make $2 million per year each of the last two years of the deal.
Brownell's buyout had been at $3 million with mitigation but, with the new agreement, will now drop to $1.7 million starting on May 1st. That number drops to $850 thousand next year and $425 thousand the year after that.
The coach just finished his 7th season with the Tigers going 17-16 (6-12) and missing out on the NCAA Tournament. Overall, Brownell is 124-103 (56-66) in his time with the school.
