An officer involved shooting in Hanahan has sent one individual to the hospital.
Early Saturday morning, officers from the Hanahan Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Woodside Drive in reference to a 911 call regarding a suicidal person.
Upon arriving on the scene, a standoff ensued and officers began actively negotiating with the subject. According to the Hanahan Police Department, the individual pointed the pistol at an officer and another officer fired his weapon at the subject.
The individual was transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries. At the time of the article, the individual is currently in critical condition. None of the police officers were injured during this incident.
Since this incident resulted in an officer involved shooting, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was requested and they are currently conducting their investigation. The officers involved in this incident have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the SLED investigation and an internal investigation.
