NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - A portion of Rivers Avenue was shut down due to a fire, according to dispatch.
On Saturday at 4:18 p.m. the North Charleston Fire Department responded to a structure fire located at 3740 Rivers Avenue.
The first arriving units reported light smoke coming from the roof of a vacant building.
Firefighters made entry to the building, but due to the unsafe condition of the building, firefighters had to do an exterior attack of the fire, according to officials.
While trying to extinguish the fire, the roof collapsed.
Units from the North Charleston Fire Department, City of Charleston, and St. Andrews Fire Department successfully extinguished the fire.
There were no firefighters injured.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
