BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner says the autopsy of a 32-year-old man who died at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Berkeley County did not show signs of trauma.
Authorities identified the inmate as James Perritte of Summerville, who was arrested Monday night on charges of shoplifting and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
"We found NO trauma to the body that would indicate foul play," Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said.
However, Salisbury said toxicology results are still pending and usually take several weeks to come in.
The Berkeley County Coroner's Office and SLED are investigating the incident.
Salisbury said he would release the manner and cause of death once toxicology results are reviewed.
