Two detained after Berkeley Electric lineworkers report being shot at

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies have arrested two people after line men with the Berkeley Electric Co-Op reported shots being fired at a work site in Ridgeville Thursday afternoon.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office arrested 39-year-old Donald Watson Eadie Jr. and 32-year-old Jasper Marvin Gill both of Mudville Road.

The sheriff's office say both men have charges relating to the gunfire incident that are pending.

At 3 p.m., deputies responded to a report of someone with a gun and shooting in the proximity of workers from Berkeley Electric Co-Op.

"The line workers were in the area of the 1700 block Mudville Road conducting scheduled utility work," BCSO officials said.

According to the investigation and witness statements, two people were in a truck that was driving by the 1700 block of Mudville Road when one of the occupants in the truck took out a gun and began to shoot.

Line workers reported they called 911 immediately after the incident happened.

They had been working on a two week project involving converting a substation when the incident occurred.

Company officials say an initial report revealed that two people in a vehicle drove by the workers then fired six to ten shots in the air.

"The subjects were located, detained and ultimately arrested," BCSO officials said.

A report by the sheriff's office states Gill was out on bond from both Dorchester and Charleston counties.

"While conducting a search warrant at related address on Mudville Road, several firearms and long guns were located along with suspected methamphetamine," BCSO officials said.

There were no reported injuries.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
