The Citadel gets swept by Furman

The Citadel baseball team was defeated 13-1 in seven innings at Furman Sunday afternoon at Latham Stadium.

The Paladins jumped on The Citadel early for six runs in the second inning and five more in the third. Furman hit four home runs on the afternoon as the ball was flying out easily over the left-center field wall all weekend.

Jonathan Sabo put the Bulldogs (12-29, 3-12 SoCon) on the board with a solo home run to left-center field in the top of the third. Sabo leads the team with eight home runs and 26 runs batted in.

Joe Sabatini reached base three times with a double and a walk. J.D. Davis went 1-for-1 at the plate with two walks. Alex Bialakis threw a shutout inning in relief.

The Bulldogs next return home for a three-game series against ETSU on May 5-7. The Bulldogs' seniorsBarrett Charpia and Beau Strickland will be honored before the finale on May 7 as they graduate from The Citadel a day prior.
