Crews clear the scene after fire in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Crews have cleared the scene of a structure fire on the 600 block of East Bay Street.

The Charleston Fire Department was called to the area around 8:36 a.m., according to Charleston County dispatchers. 

An hour later, the Charleston Police Department tweeted that Columbus and East Bay were closed as authorities responded. 

Dispatchers say emergency officials have since left.
