Strong second half leads Bucs to 58-7 win over Mississippi Valley State

CHARLESTON, SC - Charleston Southern improved to 2-0 at home this season as the Buccaneers scored 48 points in the second half to pull away from Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night at Buccaneer Field, 58-7.

Up 10-7 at the start of the second half thanks to a Tyler Tekac 48-yard field goal, the Bucs (2-2) rattled off 35 points in the third quarter to take a commanding lead. Terrance Wilson and London Johnson added late fourth quarter touchdown runs to provide the final margin as CSU closed out their 15th consecutive home non-conference win.

Kameron Brown (two catches, 101 yards and a touchdown) and Wilson (two carries, 106 yards, two touchdowns) provided plenty of fireworks for the Buccaneers' offense. Johnny Robinson (two sacks) paced a strong CSU defensive effort that brought the quarterback down a school-record nine times in the contest.

The Bucs gained a season-high 373 yards on the ground, while the CSU defense held Mississippi Valley State (0-4) to -24 rushing yards in the contest. MVSU recorded 318 passing yards in the game, but interceptions by Shadarius Hopkins and Sekwan Jenkins helped limit the Delta Devils' offense in the game.
