ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - The Isle of Palms Police Department is searching for a man they say exposed himself to a woman on the beach.
The incident happened on Oct. 15 near 34th Avenue.
The woman told investigators she was lying on the beach when the man approached her and exposed himself. When she stood up to run away, the man reportedly ran after her before fleeing in the opposite direction, she said.
The incident left Isle of Palms residents and visitors unsettled.
"I think he has something wrong with him," visitor Faye Mudd said. "Mentally, physically, whatever...he has to do that to get his jollies."
Police say the victim of the incident was alone on the beach when the man approached her.
"He needs help," Alphonzo Keith, who works on the Isle of Palms, said. "He has to go and get help.
Monday morning, police released an image of the man and information about the incident in Spanish in the hopes more people will see the information.
Police say the flasher is a Hispanic male with dark hair and eyes and a tanned complexion. He has a tattoo circling his left bicep. At the time of the incident, police say he was wearing a blue, flat-billed Tampa Bay Rays hat, a gray shirt and white, gray and blue plaid shorts.
