ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A team of Anderson Twp. residents worked together to free a deer that had a plastic pumpkin stuck on its head.

For at least four days, neighbors reported seeing the pumpkin-headed animal running around the area.

According to Daryl Meyerrenke, owner of Anderson Township Family Pet Center, just before sunset on Sunday, a group with catch poles gathered off of Martha Drive, surrounded the deer and then removed the trick-or-treat bucket.

Meyerrenke said the strap on the pumpkin had been lodged around the back of the deer's head.

The group said the deer was so hungry that it ran off about 30 feet to the nearest creek and started drinking and grazing.

Donations are being collected for the 2nd Chance Wildlife Rescue to recognize efforts of the team of people who helped the deer and the work the organization does for Anderson Township. They're being collected at the Anderson Twp. Family Pet Center, 6666 Clough Pike.
