Police seized a gun following a traffic stop in North Charleston Monday

On Nov. 13, officers were conducting a patrol of the Chicora/Cherokee community when they saw a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu they say had illegal window tinting.

Officers attempted to stop the car at Cosgrove Ave and Cochise St., but the car fled down Osceola St.

After a short chase, the car stopped on Kraft Ave. The driver was taken into custody for Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren.

During a search of the car, officers say they found a 9mm handgun in the glove box with nine rounds in the magazine and an additional magazine containing 10 rounds.

Zakei Assad Holmes was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.
