Three men shot in separate hunting accidents in the Lowcountry over the weekend

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Emergency officials say three people were shot in separate hunting accidents in the Lowcountry over the weekend. 

Officials with Colleton County Fire and Rescue say on Saturday morning fire-rescue units responded to the 400 block of Clover Hill Road in Walterboro for a 48-year-old Summerville man who was injured. 

"The man was hunting with a large group when he was accidentally shot with buck shot," CCFR officials said."He received two wounds to a leg."

According to authorities, bystanders had controlled the bleeding prior to the arrival of paramedics.

"Crews quickly treated the man at the scene, then transported him emergent to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston with additional personnel on board to assist with patient care," CCFR officials said. 

Authorities say on Friday, a man accidentally shot himself while hunting and was transported to Colleton Medical Center.

CCFR officials also reported that another man was also shot in a hunting accident over the weekend in the Springtown community in Orangeburg County and transported to the hospital.

DNR is investigating the incidents.
