SOUTH CAROLINA (WCSC) - Don't be alarmed, it's just a test.
The South Carolina Emergency Operations center will be fully activated Wednesday as part of a full-scale annual exercise.
It's part of a partnership between other state agencies and the S.C. Emergency Management Division which will allow for a simulated failure of the state power grid, resulting in hypothetical power outages. The fictional failure will be caused by theoretical threats to the country's infrastructure caused by theoretical cyber attacks.
The exercise will be followed with a seminar on recovering from such attacks on Thursday.
