COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 21-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder for a stabbing that happened in Cottageville.
The Colleton County Sheriff's Office arrested Timothy Wayne Thornton. He was given a $60,000 bond on Thursday.
His arrest stems from an incident that happened Sunday night when a deputy responded to the 24,000 block of Augusta Highway for a stabbing.
The deputy found the victim in a truck on Sidneys Road near Pioneer Trail. Authorities say a woman was driving the victim to Colleton Medical Center for treatment
The victim was in the front passenger seat and bleeding from his chest.
A woman in the truck told deputies she was inside her home when she said she heard the victim tell his son that a man had just pulled a gun on him.
The woman told investigators that she did not see the actual stabbing, but saw blood on the back steps of the home.
Investigators said they believe a boyfriend of a woman who had been at the home stabbed the victim.
A report states when deputies returned to the scene they saw a man walking along side Augusta Highway. The man was later identified as Thornton who was then detained by deputies.
