ST. STEPHEN, SC (WCSC) - What started as a traffic stop in St. Stephen ended in an arrest and a drug bust Tuesday.

Members of the Drug Enforcement Unit were working in the St. Stephen when they reported seeing a speeding car.

After a traffic stop on Myers Estate Lane, the driver was identified as 30-year-old Jeffrey Dingle.

After a search of the car, Police found Dingle to be in possession of a Glock 22 with ammunition, five hydrocodone tablets, 2.6 grams of a substance that field tested presumptive to methamphetamines, nearly 10 pounds of a green, plant-like material that field tested presumptive to marijuana and $4,397.

"Sometimes drug dealers are paranoid because of the drugs they use - this ain't gonna help them rest easy. Last week, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit was in Sangaree with a large seizure, last night it was St. Stephen, a good 30 miles away," Sheriff Duane Lewis said.

Dingle was arrested and is pending warrant service and a bond hearing.
