Police: Victim in Monday night Charleston shooting dies

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say the man wounded in a shooting in downtown Charleston Monday night has died.

Charleston Police are investigating the shooting that happened at 6:35 p.m. at Hagood Avenue and Ashton Street near the McDonald's.

The victim, an adult male, was transported to MUSC where he later died, Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis said.

Police believe there was an altercation between the victim and the suspect.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office has not yet released the identity of the victim.
