'Black Panther' star from Upstate buys hundreds of movie tickets for underprivileged Upstate kids

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Upstate native and star of Marvel's latest Blockbuster "Black Panther" Chadwick Boseman is giving back to the community where it all began.

Boseman, who was born and raised in Anderson, went back to the Upstate community to purchase movie tickets to see "Black Panther" for 312 underprivileged kids, according to the theater manager.

The act of kindness took place at the AmStar 14 in Anderson on Saturday.

The manager said a total of 460 of Boseman's family and friends saw the film at the theater on opening night.

According to Box Office Mojo, the latest numbers for "Black Panther" on opening weekend are $201,797,000.
