SOUTH CAROLINA (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control backtracked Wednesday after issuing a tweet critical of President Trump.
The tweet, which has since been deleted from the department's official account, was captured and screenshotted by The State Newspaper.
It said, "What an (expletive) tool the President of the United States is #ParklandStudentsSpeak"
Another tweet apologizing for it said, "The unauthorized tweet from earlier this afternoon has been removed. We apologize and are investigating."
DHEC is a state regulatory agency that protects public health. It coordinates disease control, makes sure food is safe and monitors pollution.
It remains unclear how the initial tweet was issued. DHEC says its now investigating.
