SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

One person was hospitalized after a house fire in Summerville early Thursday morning.

Crews responded at 12:32 a.m. to the 200 block of Jasmine Drive in Corey Woods and found a single-story house with smoke coming from all sides, according to Summerville spokesman Kathryn Krinkuth.

The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes in the laundry room area. The damage was contained to the room, but smoke damage left the house uninhabitable, Drinkuth said.

The Red Cross is now providing help to four adults and one infant. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Drinkuth.

Dorchester County fire and the Summerville police department also helped at the scene.
