CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A downtown Charleston murder suspect has surrendered to investigators.

The Charleston Police Department says 19-year-old Tyrone Council turned himself in Thursday morning for a homicide earlier this week.

"He is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime," CPD officials said.

Authorities say 19-year-old De’Andre Gregg of Charleston died in the Monday night shooting that happened at the intersection of Hagood Avenue and Ashton Street.

Police believe there was an altercation between the victim and the suspect.
