JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

A man is behind bars after being caught with 17 pounds of marijuana, found during a traffic stop.

25-year-old Casey Bonneau is charged with trafficking marijuana.

Bonneau appeared before a bond court judge Saturday morning and was given a $25,000 bond.

According to an affidavit, Bonneau was pulled over for a traffic stop near the intersection of Old Folly Road and Maybank Highway on James Island. During the stop, deputies found in Bonneau’s possession a “quantity of green plant material.”

There was approximately 17 pounds of the green plant material which “field-tested presumptive for marijuana,” the affidavit stated.

Court records show Bonneau had been arrested two days before this incident for possession of cocaine. He was released on a $20,000 bond.
