New tri-county program provides potential solutions to Lowcountry traffic congestion

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A new app and website launching Tuesday will try to help ease traffic congestion in the Lowcountry.

"Lowcountry Go" or "LowGo" is a website and phone app which aims to connect residents with real-time information to make their commute easier with carpools, vanpools, and emergency rides home. The program is a partnership between SCDOT, the Federal Highway Administration and the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments.

It ride-matches users and provides other options such as public transit, walking and biking.

More information about the program can be found on its website.

The official launch event for the website and app is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. on the MUSC Greenway located in the 100 block of Doughty Street.
