ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

An Orangeburg man has been charged with attempted murder.

Lonnie D. Switzer, 39, is accused of shooting a 45-year-old woman in the abdomen with a shotgun early Saturday morning.

Authorities arrived on Redmon Road in Orangeburg and found Switzer in the roadway with the shotgun, according to a release by the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office.

A neighbor met with investigators and said the woman had shown up at his door claiming she had been shot.

Lead Investigator John Stokes and OCSO victim advocate Amy Rinkenberger made a request to deny bond, which the judge granted, according to the release.

The mother of the victim said the daughter was still in the hospital as of Tuesday. Switzer faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
