N. Charleston fire department testing city hydrants in March

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The North Charleston fire department is testing the city's hydrants beginning Thursday.

The testing occurs annually to make sure each hydrant works in the event of a fire.

The city is warning residents that they can expect small, temporary changes in the water such as brown discoloration and low water pressure.

If this happens, simply run the tap until the water turns clear again. If the issue continues, residents are urged to call Charleston Water System at 843-727-6800.

Crews say they will be as careful as possible to minimize damage to lawns and landscaping.
