CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston will see more foot traffic than usual this weekend during the Wine & Food Festival, which brings a higher chance of auto-pedestrian accidents.
There have already been 27 such incidents so far in 2018 in Charleston County. The Highway Safety Association says pedestrian says the number of pedestrians hit is up across the country with nearly 6,000 pedestrians were killed last year.
Lack of focus from both pedestrians and drivers can lead to a disaster. The solution is to make sure both drivers and pedestrians watch where they're going and to put down phones. Cars and people should both make sure they're obeying traffic laws and regulations.
