BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - 25 people were arrested between Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. and Friday morning at 3 a.m., according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.
The arrests came during the execution of six search warrants and two traffic stops. The joint arrest effort came from deputies with the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, Moncks Corner Police and State Law Enforcement agents, also known as SLED.
According the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, the search yielded a stolen vehicle, two fire arms, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, marijuana and a list of other drugs. Deputies apart of Berkeley County's Drug Enforcement Unit, or DEU, say it received several complaints about drugs deals happening in several areas around the county.
Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis released this statement, "Drug and substance abuse continue to be at the center of nearly all crimes that we deal with - they truly are the root of almost all evil. The folks arrested in this operating have a choice to make, clean up or move because we will be back. Selling drugs, dealing in stolen property, stolen firearms - none of that is something that we will allow here in Berkeley County. These initiatives all start with citizens tips and community feedback so I want to thank those who take the time to help us help them."
Berkeley County deputies are still searching for six more people at this time: Algernon Nigel Whitaker is wanted possession of a firearm , Joseph Junior Parker is wanted on possession of marijuana and distributing cocaine, Demante Parker is wanted for manufacturing marijuana, Nigel Gibbs is wanted for distributing marijuana, Rafiq Trice is wanted for distributing marijuana and Brandon Palmer is wanted for distributing meth.
All arrested were taken to the Hill Finklea Detention Center to be processed and await a bond hearing.
