CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office will soon have more help from the skies.
Fully outfitted. the county paid $3.4 million for a 2012 Bell 407GX helicopter to replace its current 1970s version which it plans to show off on Tuesday. The new helicopter has more seating space, a single-engine and a four-blade rotor, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office spokesman Roger Antonio.
The chopper had previously been used by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, and will allow for live video streaming to ground personnel. It also includes landing skids which are equipped to land on water in an emergency.
The new helicopter will be unveiled to the media Tuesday night at 5:15 p.m.
