Mt. Pleasant town council to discuss overtime pay for police following SRO boost

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Mount Pleasant town council is set to discuss overtime pay for it's police officers Tuesday.

The town already had eight school resource officers assigned to its schools, but now the town's SRO program has more than doubled.

Mayor Will Haynie and Town Council announced their decision on Friday to enhance the SRO program.

"Security is job one when you're a local government," Haynie said. "There was really no debate about doing this."
