Famous New York area hip-hop artist dies in Colleton Co.

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A notable name in the hip-hop industry died Monday night in Colleton County.

Craig Mack, 46, died of natural causes, according to Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey.

A Los Angeles Times report states a producer who knew Mack well visited him at Overcomer Ministry in Walterboro recently.

Mack rose to fame on Sean Combs, aka "P Diddy's" record label, Bad Boy Records, and had a hit song in 1994 called "Flava in Ya Ear" which was certified platinum and nominated for a Grammy.

Overcomer Ministry is the home of alleged cult preacher Ralph Stair, who can be seen in a 2012 video with Mack. Stair is currently facing eight charges, including three counts of criminal sexual conduct. The 84-year-old was released on bond in late January.  A judge also recently ruled Stair will stand trial.

Mack had just released "The Mack World Sessions" album in 2017.
