ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - East Cooper Meals on Wheels will celebrate A Meal to Remember on Thursday, March 29 at Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms.
The gala is sold out, but you can still help the organization by donating through its website, www.ecmow.org. All of the money raised during the gala will go to helping Meals on Wheels provide healthier meals to homebound folks here in the Lowcountry.
Right now, East Cooper Meals on Wheels distributes about four hundred meals a day, and the organization would like to increase the number of days, healthier meals are distributed from two to five days a week. It serves nutritious meals to all homebound residents East of the Cooper, regardless of age or income. The organization operates without a waiting list and there is never a charge for meals.
Meals are prepared fresh daily by local providers, by the Lowcountry Food Bank and Senior Catering, as well as by local restaurants.
The organization promotes the " food is medicine" initiative, believing that serving healthy food will help homebound neighbors live a well-nourished life with independence and dignity.
