N. Charleston special meeting to change blueprint of land annexed from city of Charleston

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston finalized its annexation of properties off Highway 61 in December 2017, now it's looking to correct a mapping issue with the land.

In January 2018, the City of Charleston voted to annex properties already claimed by North Charleston. The zoning map was updated to reflect a 100 feet deep strip of land on Ashley River Road.

Even though North Charleston annexed an unincorporated part of land, the new mapping changes will have to reflect new Charleston County zoning.

North Charleston's intent was only to annex the unincorporated part, not the property already in Charleston's jurisdiction. The new ordinance to be discussed Thursday would make the boundaries consistent with North Charleston's wishes to only annex the unincorporated strip.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m.
