Sholl Denies Stingrays With 32 Saves

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Idaho Steelheads (36-20-4-3) goaltender Tomas Sholl made 32 saves and held the South Carolina Stingrays (39-14-6-1) without a goal in a 2-0 decision at the North Charleston Coliseum on Thursday night.

Steelheads' tallies came from Eric Sweetman, Connor Chatham and Jack Nevins, while SC netminder Parker Milner stopped 20 shots in the game in a losing effort.

The game was scoreless until the end of the second period when Sweetman tallied his seventh of the year to make it 1-0 Idaho at 18:49 during a 4-on-4 situation.

Chatham made it 2-0 Steelheads with his 12th of the season at 8:39 before Nevins added an empty net strike in the final minute to put the game out of reach for South Carolina.

Joe Devin led the Stingrays with five shots on net in the contest and the Rays led in shots on goal 32-23, but the team failed to get a puck by Sholl.

Both squads came up empty on the power play with Idaho finishing 0-for-1 and South Carolina ending at 0-for-4.

The Rays host the Steelheads for a second consecutive evening on Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.
