BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Highway Patrol has charged a 51-year-old man for a fatal crash in Berkeley County.

Troopers arrested Alviuos Dean Adams of Georgetown and charged him with felony DUI resulting in death for a crash that happened on Sunday on French Santee Road near Palmers Bridge Road.

Adams was initially transported to MUSC after the collision, and when he was released was locked up at the Berkeley County Detention Center.

Terry Woods, 63,  of Georgetown died in the single-vehicle accident, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Authorities say a Ford Mustang, in which Woods was the passenger and Adams the driver, went off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees.

Woods was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, Southern said.

Salisbury has ruled Woods' death accidental.
