The Citadel's Frankie Johnson announces he'll transfer

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Citadel sophomore guard Frankie Johnson announced on Monday night that he intends to transfer from the Bulldogs.

"I would like to give a special thanks to Coach Baucom and the coaching staff for recruiting me and giving me to play on the collegiate level for The Citadel. I want to thank my teammates and bulldog fans for supporting me on this journey for the last 2 years" Johnson said in a statement on Twitter. "With that being said I will not be finishing out my future as a bulldog. I wish nothing but the best for my teammates and I'm looking forward to continue my academic and basketball career elsewhere. Thankful for my family and friends that supported me in my decision."

Johnson was the only player to start all 32 games for The Citadel in the 2017-18 season. He averaged 6.3 points per game last year was 3rd on the team in rebounding and led the squad in assists (4.3 per game) and steals (1.8 per game).
