WEST ASHLEY SC (WCSC) - West Ashley high school was evacuated for a short period Tuesday morning.

A fire alarm was pulled which led to the evacuation of the main building at 7:55 a.m., according to Charleston County School District spokesman Andy Pruitt.

A faulty HVAC unit has been determined as the cause, but no fire was detected or seen on campus and no injuries were reported, Pruitt said.

Students and staff returned to class to resume the school day at 8:23 a.m.
