DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Dorchester County Fire Rescue is looking into what caused a fire in a machine shop early Tuesday morning.

Crews responded to Thorpe Street next to the Sterling Corporation at 3:30 a.m. and saw extensive smoke and fire coming from the metal building, according to Dorchester County spokeswoman Tiffany Norton.

More than 45 rescue personnel from three different agencies including Summerville fire rescue and the North Charleston fire department helped extinguish the fire in 90 minutes, Norton said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
