BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Deputies in Berkeley County say surveillance video helped them identify a suspect in several business burglaries in the Cross area.

U.S. Marshals arrested Illya Laron Wright in Columbia on five warrants connected to the incidents, according to a post on the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page.

"Without the flood of tips we got from the community, identifying Illya Wright would not have been so easy," Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said. "I want to thank the many citizens who helped with this case and I am glad that we caught him."

The burglaries were reported over a weekend in January, deputies said. A  surveillance photo of a man holding a crowbar was taken inside on Black's Fish Camp in the Cross area according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say other burglaries included the Santee Quick Stop, Henry's Bait and Tackle, and Black's Camp and The Sportsman's Bar.

Deputies said he has "multiple property crime convictions in the past" and is known to frequent both Charleston and Richland Counties.

He was being held at the Alvin Glenn Detention Center in Richland County pending a return to Berkeley County. A bond hearing is set for Wednesday, the post states.
