After hitting 2 home runs during opening weekend, Stratford alum Justin Smoak was named the American League player of the week on Monday.
The Blue Jays first baseman hit 2 long balls, including a game-winning grand slam on Sunday as Toronto split their opening series against the Yankees.
Smoak is hitting .467 for the year with 8 RBI.
This is the 2nd time in his career Smoak has earned the weekly honor. He won it in June of 2012 while with the Mariners.
